Hopefully Ami won't run up there soon and knock her off!

Gracie likes exploring weird places too

For some reason she loves playing in the bathtub.  When it's not damp of course.

What a wonderful morning

The mornings are always so interesting here.

Today is the first day of Austin City Limits Festival and I took the day off. I was dozing off and on on my couch like I usually do when I heard a strange noise from my balcony. Gracie, my friends cat, was a stray that loved being outside and now enjoys sitting on the balcony of my 3rd floor apartment and watching all the going ons of the neighborhood. Well, now the ferret has begun to enjoy all that she can get into on the balcony as well.

As I fall in and out of lovely dreams I'm awakened by a strange noise I haven't heard before. When I look out the door to see what is happening on the balcony I see Zoe happy than a pig in shit digging all the dirt out of a small clay pot. I have only seen her look that happy and joyous a few times before. The dirt that outlined the top of her nose was so precious that I couldn't fuss at her too much. She had been needing a bath though so into the tub she went. I didn't want the dirt getting every where.

While she was in the tub with no water present I went and got the shampoo for her. When I got back 45 seconds I could tell she had been having fun checking the tub from the trail of dirt all over it.

The beginning of the bath was fine and relatively easy compared to previous baths I had given her until I need to get the shampoo out.

I had let the water pool up in the tub to help rinse out the dirt and evidently Zoe is not a fan of being in standing water. The act of standing in the water literally scared the poop out of her!

When I look down after pouring out the shampoo I see this pitifull look on her face that appears to be saying "Save me!!!!" and a trail of poop behind her.

Lesson learned: don't put a ferret in standing water.

Now I'm waiting to go to ACL Festival while I soak and scrub my bathtub before getting ready for all of the festivities. I hope everyone has a safe and fantastic weekend!

The Beginning

So I just got off the phone with a friend who convinced me it would be a good idea to start writing a book. It's not going to be about me, it's about this wonderful, playful, annoying, curious ferret that has been dropped ever so lovingly into my life.

Her name is Zoe.

She came to live with me when my best friend from SWT got engaged and then moved in with her husband. He had 2 dogs, she had 2 cats and a ferret. I was the maid of honor that was willing to do anything to make the whole process easier. Turns out his dogs are more of the hunting OCD type and we didn't want Zoe to become part of the food chain.

So Zoe came for "trail" sleep over to see if it would work out. We're still in the process of the trail sleep over.

Approximately 3 months after the sleepover began I got a random phone call from the friend. I had heard how one of her cats was not getting along with the dogs. They tried taking Gracie to another home and it was not successful for poor Gracie.

That evening they both brought Gracie over to drop her off until we found a new home for her. I wish I had been able to get a photo of my friend and I on the floor of my bedroom, her husband standing not far behind trying to get a peek of the cats make crazy noises at each other while Zoe excitedly greeted a not very happy Gracie. Ami, my cat, was not very thrilled after being the only focus of my love and attention for a full year.

I think she's still not very happy with me.

So now Zoe has been living with me for just over a year and I already have so many interesting stories from everything they all get into.

I hope you all enjoy the stories to come and the recalling of many past adventures of this interesting household.
