Newest hobby

I haven't been able to post in so long because work has been so busy and a lovely ferret friend of mine accidentally spilled a drink on my personal laptop.  :(

Since I no longer have constant reliable swift internet access at my apartment (since I'm back to using my clam shell iBook) I have started knitting.  Go ahead and enter the "OK Mom" comments here as many of my other friends have.  But man, Ami is not a big fan of me doing anything that doesn't have her as the center of attention.  When I try to knit at home on my couch Ami lays either on my knitting needles, on my arms, or in the middle of the blanket or scarf I'm working on.  She really likes to complicate things for me.

Oh, and Gracie is finally getting a lot better at letting me hold her!  I'm so excited about that.  Now she just lets out her "no" meow once or twice and tries to stiff arm me most of the time I'm holding her until I go to give her a kiss.  I'm hoping with continued perseverance that she will eventually get used to it.  She is also finally jumping up and joining me on the couch next to me.  And she so sweetly reminds me that she's waiting for food or attention or water by politely placing her paw on my arm or leg.  She is so kind and gentle compared to boisterous Ami and baffled Zoe.  Gracie is so smooth and poised with her moves and how she holds herself, much like Christie (who was her originally owner).  Ami is riduculously like me, flopping around and acting like a fool without thinking of the consequences.  Hmm, go figure!

Well, I need to finish making this scarf before I go back and try to redo the baby blanket I recently finished.  The 1st attempt was just bad!  I hope everyone is having a wonderful holiday season.

They're so vain

The Beginning

So I just got off the phone with a friend who convinced me it would be a good idea to start writing a book. It's not going to be about me, it's about this wonderful, playful, annoying, curious ferret that has been dropped ever so lovingly into my life.

Her name is Zoe.

She came to live with me when my best friend from SWT got engaged and then moved in with her husband. He had 2 dogs, she had 2 cats and a ferret. I was the maid of honor that was willing to do anything to make the whole process easier. Turns out his dogs are more of the hunting OCD type and we didn't want Zoe to become part of the food chain.

So Zoe came for "trail" sleep over to see if it would work out. We're still in the process of the trail sleep over.

Approximately 3 months after the sleepover began I got a random phone call from the friend. I had heard how one of her cats was not getting along with the dogs. They tried taking Gracie to another home and it was not successful for poor Gracie.

That evening they both brought Gracie over to drop her off until we found a new home for her. I wish I had been able to get a photo of my friend and I on the floor of my bedroom, her husband standing not far behind trying to get a peek of the cats make crazy noises at each other while Zoe excitedly greeted a not very happy Gracie. Ami, my cat, was not very thrilled after being the only focus of my love and attention for a full year.

I think she's still not very happy with me.

So now Zoe has been living with me for just over a year and I already have so many interesting stories from everything they all get into.

I hope you all enjoy the stories to come and the recalling of many past adventures of this interesting household.
